Felicity & Co was born out of my love of sterling silver. My inability to source affordable quality sterling silver giftware in Australia was the catalyst behind what you see today.
Whilst honeymooning in the UK I purchased some English silver frames and on a subsequent trip a few more pieces including a wine bottle coaster. These items are amongst my most cherished pieces, the frames hold precious memories, whilst the wine bottle coaster is used whenever people come for dinner.
In the years following when I wished to add to my collection it soon became apparent that English sterling silver was not readily available in Australia and what was available was specifically targeting an exclusive market..a seed was planted. Some twelve years and two children later Felicity & Co is finally a reality.
It has always fascinated me that whilst the vast majority of people would not buy a piece of silver jewellery unless it was sterling silver, they do not question purchasing silver plate giftware. What I am doing is offering an affordable alternative. Sterling silver is something that is handed down through generations, ultimately becoming an heirloom.
In January of 2006 I traveled to the UK to meet with a number of silversmiths and to view both their production process and their products. Felicity & Co is committed to providing a quality product and it is for that reason I have chosen suppliers who are true to their craft. In many cases the silversmiths continue to use the same equipment and techniques that their great grandfathers used.
I find it comforting to think that although, in some respects, we live in a disposable world, some traditions have endured the times, ultimately quality sterling silver is a trend that will never go out.
